Jim Bergman, a 1990 Business Administration grad, has held an impressive lineup of leadership positions. In service to Truman, Bergman resided as president of both the Northeast Missouri Alumni Chapter Board (1999-2008) and the Alumni Association Board (2003-2004). Additionally, he has been a member of three other boards, including the Adair County YMCA Board since 1995. He served as president of that board for several years as well. Bergman’s accomplishments are backed up by several awards: Northeast Missouri Alumni Chapter Alumni of the Year (2004), Truman Distinguished Service Award (2012) and Truman School of Business Excellence in Teaching Award (2025), among others. Currently a professor at Truman State University, Bergman is now leading Truman’s online graduate program for the Master of Arts in Leadership.
When Bergman isn’t busy as an instructor, he and his wife love to binge watch old comedies and crime shows. You can find him cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals, out on the golf course or playing guitar. Being of service to others is of the utmost importance to Bergman, especially young people. He loves to encourage the people he meets to find their calling and have confidence in the choices they make. His dedication to service, leadership and the success of others makes Bergman an alumnus the entire Truman community can be proud to call one of our own.
